Our library has a collection of over 13,000 library books and more than 9,000 copies of textbooks available to students and teachers.
Mission
The mission of El Portal Library is to provide a safe and positive learning environment for all El Portal students and staff and to encourage growth in knowledge and establish a life-long love for reading.
Business Hours
The library is open for students every school day from 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Library is closed from 11:55 A.M. to 12:25 P.M. for lunch.
Circulation Policies
Students can check out 2 library books at a time. Books are circulated for 14 school days and can be renewed if there are no holds for these titles. If students lose or damage their books, a fine is applied. If a book is not returned on time, students will be charged a $.05 per day late fee until the book is returned. Reference books and magazines are not available for check out.
Library Computer Rules
All students that turn in their Student Internet User Agreement are allowed to use library computers. They can be used only for educational purposes. Email, chat and message boards are prohibited. Library computers are available for research, work processing, AR and STAR testing and other teachers required assignments. Students must get permission from the librarian before using these computers.
